Reflections of Grace

THE GOD WHO KEEPS HIS WORD

Scripture

Psalms 105:7-11

7He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.8He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,9the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,10which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,11saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”
Reflect
  1. 1.How does knowing that the Lord rules over all the earth strengthen your trust when life feels uncertain or unfair?
  2. 2.God remembers his covenant forever. What promise of God do you need to remember when your faith feels weak?
  3. 3.God promised his people an inheritance. How does this help you trust that God is leading you toward what he has prepared, even when the path feels long?
Exposition
Sometimes we struggle to trust because people do not always keep their word. Promises are forgotten. Commitments change. Plans fall apart. After enough disappointment, it becomes easy to wonder if God’s promises might also be uncertain. reminds us that the Lord is not like us. He is our God, and his judgments are in all the earth. He is not limited by changing circumstances or human weakness. What he says, he remembers. What he promises, he keeps. God’s word does not expire when life gets difficult. The psalm points back to the covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. These men lived in different seasons, faced different tests, and carried different weaknesses, but God’s promise remained steady through them all. His faithfulness was bigger than one lifetime. His covenant was stronger than their circumstances. That gives us hope when the road feels long. We may not always see the full picture. We may only see one small part of the story. But the God who kept his covenant through generations is still faithful today. So hold on to what God has said. Let his faithfulness steady your anxious heart. When you feel unsure, remember that you belong to the God who keeps his word. His promises are not fragile. His purposes are not forgotten. The One who leads his people also brings them into what he has prepared.
Prayer
Father, thank you that you are faithful and that your word does not fail. Help me trust your promises when life feels uncertain or slow. Forgive me for doubting your goodness when I cannot see the whole story. Teach me to rest in your covenant love and follow you with confidence.
