Reflections of Grace
REMEMBER & REJOICE
Scripture
Psalms 105:1-6
1Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!2Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!3Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!4Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!5Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,6O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
Reflect
- 1.In verse 1, what specific reason do you have today to give thanks to the Lord and call upon his name?
- 2.In verse 2, the psalmist calls God’s people to tell of his wondrous works. What story of God’s faithfulness in your life have you been too quiet about?
- 3.In verse 3, what does it look like for your heart to seek the Lord with joy instead of only coming to him in need?
- 4.In verses 4–5, how can remembering God’s past works strengthen you in a present struggle?
Exposition
Sometimes we forget because life gets noisy. We remember our problems, our deadlines, our disappointments, and our unanswered questions, but we forget the goodness of God that has carried us again and again. When the present feels heavy, the past faithfulness of God can fade from view.
calls us back to remembrance. The psalmist invites God’s people to give thanks, call on his name, sing to him, seek him, and remember his wondrous works. This is worship rooted in memory. God’s people are told to look back so they can look forward with faith.
This means if God has been faithful before, you do not have to face today as if you are alone. His works are not just ancient stories on a page. They are reminders of his character. The God who kept his covenant, heard his people, and acted with power is still worthy of your trust. Your memory can become a doorway to praise.
So don’t let your burdens have the loudest voice. Name the works of God. Speak of his goodness. Seek his strength. A thankful heart remembers what fear forgets. A worshiping heart sees grace again. The more you remember God’s faithfulness, the more your heart learns to rejoice in him.
Prayer
“Father, thank you for your faithfulness in my life. Forgive me for the times I forget your goodness and focus only on my burdens. Help me remember what you have done and speak of your grace with joy. Teach my heart to seek you, trust you, and rejoice in you today.”
