TEACH ME YOUR PATH

Psalms 25:4-9
4Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.5Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.6Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.7Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!8Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.9He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.
Reflect
- 1.What area of your life feels like uncharted territory right now, and are you willing to ask God to show you the way forward instead of relying on your own instincts?
- 2.What past mistake or season of failure are you still carrying like a debt you must pay? How might letting God remember you in his steadfast love instead set you free?
- 3.What does it mean to you that God does not wait for you to be perfect before he starts teaching you?
- 4.Is pride keeping you from learning what God wants to show you? What would it look like to approach him with humility today?
Exposition
How often are we so sure of our own direction? We make plans, set goals, and chart our course, and then we ask God to bless what we have already decided. David prays differently. He prays, “Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.” The first step in finding your way is admitting you don't know it.
The reality is, God does not show you the whole map; he leads you one step at a time. He guides the humble in what is right. But the proud will walk in their own light and stumble. Humility is the prerequisite for guidance. The path is not for those who think they have arrived; it is for those who know they are still learning.
Jesus is our ultimate path. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He did not just show us the way; he is the way. And he walked it perfectly — humble, obedient, trusting the Father at every step. He did not rely on his own understanding but submitted to the Father's will. And because he walked the path, you can walk it too.
So stop trying to direct your own path. Stop praying for God to bless your plans and start praying for God to reveal his. Humble yourself. Ask him to teach you. Wait for him. He is good and upright. He leads the humble. And his paths are paths of peace.
Prayer
“Father, teach me your ways and lead me in your truth. Forgive me for rushing ahead without waiting for your guidance. Thank you that your mercy is greater than my past failures. Give me a humble heart that is ready to listen, trust, and follow you today.”
