GOD’S LOVE REMAINS
The Passage
1Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
2Let Israel say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
3Let the house of Aaron say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
4Let those who fear the LORD say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”
Reflect & Apply
- The psalmist repeatedly declares that God's steadfast love endures forever. Why do you think we need to be reminded of this truth so often, especially during difficult seasons?
- The psalm calls Israel, the house of Aaron, and all who fear the Lord to declare God's enduring love. How can sharing testimonies of God's goodness strengthen the faith of others?
- What circumstances in your life are making it difficult for you to be thankful right now? How can you practice gratitude without ignoring or minimizing those struggles?
Today’s Word
Life has a way of reminding us how quickly things can change. One day, everything seems to be going well. The next, an unexpected problem, disappointing news, or a difficult conversation can leave us feeling uncertain. Even the people and circumstances we depend on may not always be as dependable as we hoped.
In a world where so much changes, where can we find something that lasts? opens with a simple but powerful invitation: “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” (verse 1).
The psalmist does not begin by describing his circumstances. Instead, he begins by declaring God's character. God is good, and his steadfast love never comes to an end. Then the invitation widens. Israel, the house of Aaron, and all who fear the Lord are called to repeat the same declaration.
Notice that the psalmist does not say we should give thanks because everything is going well. He calls us to give thanks because the Lord is good. Our gratitude is anchored not in what is happening around us but in who God has always been.
Thankfulness grows when we remember what remains true. God's steadfast love is not measured by how comfortable life feels. His goodness remains, even when circumstances are difficult. So today, take time to remember his faithfulness. Thank him for the blessings you can see, and trust him with the things you cannot yet understand.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your goodness and steadfast love that never comes to an end. When life changes and my heart becomes uncertain, remind me that your character remains the same. Help me cultivate a thankful heart, trust your faithfulness in difficult seasons, and encourage others with the truth of your enduring love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
