1 Peter 2:1-5
1So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.2Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation —3if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.4As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,5you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Exposition
Building something strong requires more than collecting good materials. Each piece must be shaped, placed, and connected to the others. Peter uses this picture to describe the life of God’s people.
He begins with things that must be removed: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. These attitudes quietly damage relationships and weaken community. They may remain hidden in the heart, but eventually they affect the way we speak, serve, and treat others.
Peter then tells believers to long for pure spiritual milk so they may “grow up into salvation” (v. 2). Growth does not happen by accident. Just as the body needs nourishment, our souls need the truth of God’s Word. The more we taste the Lord’s goodness, the more we desire to know him.
But Christian growth is not only personal. Peter says we come to Jesus, “a living stone,” and are also being built together as living stones into a spiritual house.
God is not building isolated believers. He is building a people. Every believer has a place. You were saved not only to belong to Christ, but also to belong with his people. So keep drawing near. Open his word. Pray honestly. Stay in his presence. And let God do the changing.
Prayer
“Father, remove the attitudes in me that harm others and hinder spiritual growth. Give me a deeper hunger for your Word and help me keep coming to Jesus. Thank you for giving me a place among your people. Build my life together with others into something that brings honor to you. Amen.”
